Intuitive Painting Workshop:
Explore your Inner Canvas with Paint and Brush

Terri welcomes you to join us in an engaging and dynamic exploration of your internal world through “intuitive painting”. This class will offer you an opportunity to connect with your Creative Source and assist you in releasing any blockages or limiting thoughts around producing “perfect” works of art.  This is not a technique class, or a painting class with a particular theme or directive, instead the class facilitates the potential for you to journey into your subconscious landscape by bringing brush to paper without any preconceived plan, or any striving to achieve a particular outcome with your art.  There will be no critiques, analysis, or class comparisons of your creative work, only support for your process! 

 

Spontaneous in nature and inherently playful, “intuitive painting” can bring you in touch with your authentic self, your joyful essence, or aid you in entering a profoundly peaceful state of being.  This transformative process can also bring you in touch with any “shadow” aspects of yourself that you are ready to purge and transform, including the possibility of bringing up “edges” of self-doubt, self-judgment, or emotional states that are wanting to be expressed in the creative process such as sadness, anger, fear, inadequacy, helplessness, guilt, or loneliness.

 

Throughout the class, Terri will provide you with individual attention and gentle guidance to discover a creative voice that’s entirely your own.  She will also be available to help you through any “edges” that are arising, by offering a safe, comforting, and compassionate energetic space to assist you in exploring further these emotional states, and encourage you to trust your intuitive process and dig deeper into the meanings of these “edges” that are seeking to be brought to light and out onto your paper.  

 

Ultimately, "intuitive painting" is a process that can bring a deep catharsis, a purging of stagnant energy in our bodies and minds, and allow for enlightening insights to emerge.

This class asks you to release:

• Any self-critical thoughts about your ability to create “beautiful art”

• Self-evaluations or comparisons to others while painting

• Unhelpful mind chatter around creating a “perfect” piece

• Blockages in discovering your inner truths and deeper “knowing” of self

• A focus on a particular outcome or finished product

 

More class details:

• This class is open to complete beginners as well as advanced painters.

• We will be using tempera paints, brushes, and paper for our class materials.

• We will not be using pictures on our phones, or other visual aides to create our art, and will rely solely on our internal memory for images to emerge.  (This is to help us avoid feeling like we need to create a “perfect” image.)

• Please wear old clothes to class! (Tempera paint in general washes out well, but some colors are more staining than others.)

• We will begin and end class with a circle gathering.  No one will be asked to share their painting with anyone else, as your artwork will be akin to a “personal diary.”  However, we will have discussion at the end of class about what the process was like for attendees, and any insights or discoveries that individuals would like to share.
