What is Reiki?

Reiki is a form of alternative healing therapy administered through the hands of the Reiki practitioner with the client lying clothed on a massage table. The Reiki practitioner places their hands in various locations on the body, but the tissue is not manipulated.  Reiki healing energy flows from the practitioner's hands into the client's body and energy field to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

A Reiki session feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that surrounds and fills the client with feelings of relaxation, peace, and tranquility that also supports healing.  Clients report help with stress, headaches, insomnia, upset stomach, sprains, as well as psychological healing, releasing of unhealthy feelings, and a restoring of confidence and groundedness.

Although the roots of hands-on healing are centuries old, Reiki in the form it is administered today, first developed in Japan in the early 20th century. Today it is becoming increasingly popular with the medical community in the US with over 800 hospitals offering Reiki as a standard part of hospital care.

What are the Benefits of Reiki?

  1. Stress Reduction: Reiki promotes deep relaxation, helping to alleviate stress and anxiety. It can induce a state of calmness, leading to a sense of peace and well-being.

  2. Pain Relief: Reiki is often used as a complementary therapy to manage pain. It may help reduce discomfort and promote the body's natural healing mechanisms.

  3. Improved Energy Flow: Reiki balances the body's energy centers (chakras) and removes energy blockages, enhancing the overall flow of energy in the body.

  4. Enhanced Immune System: Reiki can boost the immune system, aiding in the body's ability to fight off illnesses and maintain better health.

  5. Emotional Healing: Reiki may facilitate emotional healing by addressing unresolved emotional issues, promoting self-awareness, and fostering a positive mindset.

  6. Better Sleep: Many individuals report improved sleep quality and a reduction in insomnia symptoms after receiving Reiki sessions.

  7. Accelerated Recovery: Reiki is sometimes used in hospitals and healthcare settings to support patients in their recovery process after surgeries or medical treatments.

  8. Spiritual Growth: For some individuals, Reiki can lead to a deeper sense of spiritual connection and personal growth.

  9. Relaxation and Revitalization: Reiki sessions often leave individuals feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and with a clearer mind.

  10. Reduced Side Effects of Medical Treatments: Reiki is believed to complement conventional medical treatments and can help alleviate some of the side effects associated with medications and therapies.

  11. Balancing Emotions: Reiki is thought to help individuals achieve emotional balance, reduce mood swings, and cultivate a positive outlook on life.

Important Note:  While many people find Reiki to be a valuable and beneficial practice, it is not a replacement for professional medical treatment. Reiki should be used as a complementary approach to support overall well-being, and individuals with medical conditions should consult their healthcare providers for proper diagnosis and treatment.
